2024 Clare Valley Watervale Basket-pressed Tempranillo

$26.00

Savoury aromas of blueberry and dusky brooding spices…….juicy round mid palate and good length of flavour!

Inspired by the Spanish winemakers of the Rioja and Ribera del Duero wine regions who generously shared their winemaking techniques for the Tempranillo grape variety with me.

“All the purple here. Mulberry in slurpy texture, soft, sweet spice notes, a touch of salted licorice and some light chocolatey notes. Scents and flavours in the same vein. A shimmy of fine tannin, the vibrancy a major appeal here. Good rendering of the variety in a kind of up-market nouveau way. Delightful.”

TASTING NOTES

The fruit for this wine was sourced from a single site vineyard in the famous Watervale region. Complex savoury aromas of blueberry and dusky brooding spices. The palate is a sensuous mix of savoury and spice, balanced with fine tannins. A juicy round mid palate and good length of flavour is a result of time honoured basket pressing. This supple style of wine can be enjoyed as a versatile food accompaniment. Short term cellaring of 4 – 6 years.
