VITICULTURE

The fruit for this wine was sourced off Paddy and Maxine Brazel’s single site vineyard located in the township of Watervale. Soil profile is sandy/red loam over friable limestone. Yield was 1.4 tonnes/acre.

VINIFICATION

Despite a hot burst of weather from January to mid-February, the season changed for the better to mild heat days and cool nights. A significant rain event in mid-February provided a much welcome relief to the vines and allowed for ideal ripening conditions, eventuating in good flavour profiles. The grapes were harvested in mid-February and fermented on skins through to dryness in static stainless steel vessels. Traditional time-honoured basket pressing has given the wine a balanced structure. 14.5% alc/vol
