Specifically made as a food wine – medium bodied and easy drinking, yet with vibrant character. Particularly suited to spicy food and a wide cross section of Mediterranean cuisine.
The fruit for this wine was sourced off a single site vineyard in the sub-region of Watervale. Soil profile is red loam over limestone, typically known as terra rossa. Yield was 3 tonnes/acre.
One of the earliest vintages on record. Mild heat days and cool nights through February allowed the grapes to ripen slowly, producing pronounced varietal tones of savoury and spice. The grapes were harvested in mid February and fermented on skins in static red fermenters. Alcohol 14.5%v/v
The fruit for this wine was sourced from a single site vineyard in the famous wine region of Watervale. Complex savoury aromas of black cherry and dark brooding spices. The palate combines a stimulating mix of savoury and spice, balanced with fine tannins. A juicy round mid palate and good length of flavour is a result of traditional, time honoured basket pressing. This supple style of wine can be enjoyed as a versatile food accompaniment. Short term cellaring of 3-5 years.
